- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 tablespoons lemon juice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (or cardamom)
- 1/4 teaspoon kosher salt
For the Crumble Topping:
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar (packed)
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (or cardamom)
- 1/2 cup (1 stick) salted butter, melted
To Serve:
- Vanilla ice cream (optional)
- Whipped cream (optional)
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Filling
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the sliced peaches, granulated sugar, lemon juice, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt.
- Stir well to coat the peaches evenly.
- Transfer the mixture to a 9-inch deep-dish pie plate or an 8×8-inch baking dish, spreading it evenly.
Step 2: Make the Crumble Topping
- In a separate bowl, combine the flour, brown sugar, granulated sugar, and cinnamon.
- Pour in the melted butter and mix until the topping forms a crumbly texture.
- Sprinkle the crumble mixture evenly over the peach filling, ensuring even coverage.
Step 3: Bake the Peach Crumble
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling around the edges.
Step 4: Serve and Enjoy
- Allow the crumble to cool for about 10 minutes before serving.
- Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream for extra indulgence.
Notes
- For a thicker filling, add 1 tablespoon of cornstarch to the peach mixture.
- To enhance the crumble topping, mix in ½ cup of rolled oats or chopped nuts for extra crunch.
- Use ripe but firm peaches to prevent an overly mushy filling.
