Description

This Garlic Butter Pasta is a simple yet flavorful dish made with buttery, garlicky goodness. It’s perfect for a quick weeknight meal or as a comforting side dish. With just a handful of ingredients, this recipe delivers restaurant-quality taste in under 20 minutes. Serve it with a sprinkle of parmesan and fresh parsley for an extra touch of indulgence!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 oz (340g) spaghetti or pasta of choice
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
  • 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted.
  3. Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant (do not brown the garlic).
  4. Lower the heat and add the drained pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat in the garlic butter mixture.
  5. Pour in the reserved pasta water, stirring continuously to create a silky sauce.
  6. Season with salt and black pepper, then mix in grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until well combined.
  7. Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese.
  8. Serve immediately and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add cooked shrimp or grilled chicken for a protein-packed version.
  • Stir in spinach or cherry tomatoes for extra flavor and nutrition.
  • Swap Parmesan for Pecorino Romano for a sharper cheese flavor.
  • Best served immediately, but leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 2 days.
