- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- 1/2 cup reserved pasta water
- 1/2 tsp salt (or to taste)
- 1/2 tsp black pepper
- 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (plus more for serving)
- 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
- 1 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil and cook the pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve 1/2 cup of pasta water, then drain the pasta.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil and butter over medium heat until melted.
- Add the minced garlic and red pepper flakes (if using), and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant (do not brown the garlic).
- Lower the heat and add the drained pasta to the skillet. Toss to coat in the garlic butter mixture.
- Pour in the reserved pasta water, stirring continuously to create a silky sauce.
- Season with salt and black pepper, then mix in grated Parmesan cheese. Stir until well combined.
- Remove from heat and garnish with fresh parsley and additional Parmesan cheese.
- Serve immediately and enjoy!
Notes
- Add cooked shrimp or grilled chicken for a protein-packed version.
- Stir in spinach or cherry tomatoes for extra flavor and nutrition.
