  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 can (10.5 oz) cream of chicken soup
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 1/2 cups frozen mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, corn, green beans)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 bag (32 oz) frozen tater tots
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  • Cook the beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  • Add aromatics: Stir in the diced onion and minced garlic. Cook for another 2–3 minutes until fragrant.
  • Mix the filling: Add the cream of mushroom soup, cream of chicken soup, milk, Worcestershire sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Stir to combine.
  • Add veggies: Mix in the frozen mixed vegetables and let simmer for 2–3 minutes.
  • Assemble the hotdish: Transfer the beef mixture to the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
  • Layer the tater tots: Arrange the frozen tater tots in a single layer on top of the cheese.
  • Bake: Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 35–40 minutes, until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
  • Add more cheese: Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese over the tater tots and bake for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted.
  • Serve and enjoy! Let the hotdish cool slightly before serving.
